Barber FAQ

It’s simple! Ofroe connects barbers to their clients by posting the barber’s selected availability and giving the client the option to book any open time slots in the availability.

If you accidentally signed up as a barber, simply open the ‘Help’ tab in the Ofroe app or email us directly at help@ofroe.com. We’ll make sure to switch your account back to a client account.

Download the app and complete your barber application:

  • Set your recurring hours, breaks, peak times and any one-time events in the “My Schedule” tab in the Ofroe app. This will allow clients to view your availability.
  • Invite/refer your clients. Send a text, email, or dm to your clients through the “Referrals” tab in the Ofroe app. Invite them to download the app and start booking with you today.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must possess valid U.S. citizenship or proof of employment eligibility.
  • Must possess a valid barber’s license or certificate.
  • Must have access to a facility or space in a facility to provide services. Such facility should be in good operating condition, and meets the industry safety standards and state requirements.

Use of the Ofroe app is unique to each individual barber. It is not necessary for all barbers in the shop to download the app. We allow you to showcase yourself and build your personal brand in the Ofroe app.

However, if your barbershop is a commission based shop, our system allows shop owners to setup a “Shop Owner” account and view all schedules and bookings of every barber in the shop as well as collect a specified percentage commission rate for all bookings. To set this up properly, when applying to become an Ofroe barber select “Commission Based Shop” and enter the Shop Owner info. 

Also keep in mind that once you show the other barbers your success with Ofroe, make sure to refer them to get more out of the Ofroe app. The referral rewards program varies by location and other industry factors.

No. In fact, you don’t have to confirm any appointments. Your dashboard displays your next appointment and the ‘Appointments’ tab shows you all of your upcoming appointments.

Yes. As appointments are booked by your clients on the app, you are notified via push notifications and on your dashboard.

We’ve made the sign-up process and booking system so simple for your clients that they can sign-up, book an appointment, and pay for their appointment in less than 3 minutes. In order for the Ofroe app to operate efficiently and to avoid any scheduling conflicts, all appointments should be booked through the Ofroe app. Alternately, if for some reason the client is unable to book an appointment through the app, you can create a ‘one-time event’ for that specific time slot.

Yes. Simply send an email to help@ofroe.com and we’ll provide you with a promotional kit.

Yes, but if you refer a client or if a client marks you as their default barber, then they can easily rebook with you without viewing or searching through other barbers.

Yes. We created a standard list of services that include default prices and estimated time of those services (see below). Clients can choose multiple services for one booking.

In cases of emergency or if you are running behind schedule and you need to cancel an appointment, simply go to the appointment you want to cancel, swipe left on the appointment, and click cancel. Your client will be notified of the cancellation and they will be issued a credit. Cancellations should be made ONLY in cases of emergency. Ofroe accounts with consistent cancellations will be flagged and may result in account suspension or deactivation.

Yes. Your clients are sent reminders about the upcoming appointment in the following time increments: 48 hours in advance, 24 hours in advance, 2 hours in advance, and 30 minutes in advance.

No. Our system ensures that only one client can book an appointment for each time slot.

Yes. Our scheduling system allows you to setup a weekly recurring schedule and add individual time slots or services (one-time events) to your schedule. You can setup as many one-time events as you like, but keep in mind that clients can only book you up to 90 days in advance.

Once you are approved to use the Ofroe app and you have set up your schedule, you can then invite your clients to the app. In order to invite your clients, open the ‘Referrals’ tab in the Ofroe app and select one of the following options: text, email, or direct message. Once selected, add your clients to your invite list and as easy as that, they’ll receive a referral link. Make sure your clients use your referral link or code to sign-up so you receive credit and get paid for referring them.

Clients pay you through the Ofroe app at the time of the booking. We do this to confirm the availability of the payment. For instance, in cases where the client cancels or doesn’t show up for the appointment, you still get paid because of the payment confirmation in the booking process. It is also an added bonus to not have to worry about carrying around a wad of cash and conveniently consolidate your earnings in your phone.

To get paid, simply open your “Payment Info” tab and fill out the form. Once you have entered your banking and debit card info, you can cash out instantly through the “Earnings” tab, or wait for the automated weekly direct deposit.

There are two options to get paid. One is to wait every week for your automated direct deposit (which is every Wednesday), or you can cash out instantly anytime from the “Earnings” tab using the “Instant Pay” feature. There is a surcharge for using the “Instant Pay” feature.

When you initially setup your barber profile, you must choose a cancellation policy setting of 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%. The default setting is set to 50%. Each percentage represents how much of the total cost of the booking you will receive for a cancellation. You can change this setting anytime under your profile settings. Yes. Clients are encouraged to tip their barber through the app. They are given options to tip $5, $10, $15 or fill in any amount they prefer (maximum 100% of the booking).

We collect a standard booking fee at the time of booking from all clients that ranges from $1.50 to $2.50 depending on the services selected. We also collect a 10% commission for all services from barbers at the end of every appointment. These fees are used for credit card processing, incentives, payouts, and to ensure our app keeps running smoothly. For more information please read the Ofroe Terms of Use and Barber Addendum.

When you first set-up your profile, you will be prompted to choose a cancellation policy. After the initial sign-up process, you can manually change your cancellation policy under your profile settings in the app.

There are two scheduling modules in the app. One is a recurring weekly schedule and the other is designated for one-time events. Click on the ‘Recurring’ tab to set-up your regular work hours for the week, your breaks, days off and peak times with pricing variations. One-time events may be designated as a break, day off, peak time or irregular work hours. Once you save the event, it will only apply to that day or time-frame.

Peak times are a key feature of the Ofroe app. This feature allows barbers to be more profitable on busier days. For instance, if every Saturday morning you are significantly more busy and the wait times for clients are unbearable, adding peak times for these significantly busier times is the way to go. Simply setup certain hours at higher percentage rates and those price changes will reflect to your clients at the time of booking. Setting up peak times gives you the opportunity to make more money on your busier days, as well as help spread out your schedule.

We have provided a standard list of services that include over 90% of barbershop services. We also allow up to 5 custom services that can be setup in your profile settings.

If you receive more than the amount of $20,000 and you have conducted more than 200 transactions, you will receive a 1099-K form in advance for tax purposes. However, if you are in need of a detailed income report, you can reach out to us at help@ofroe.com and we will prepare an income report detailing all of your transactions processed through the app.

A 2.5% service fee applies to all ‘Instant Pay’ payouts made through the app.
